Masaki Iwabuchi

No great question, No great solution.

Masaki is an award-winning design researcher, creative technologist, and educator experienced in a wide array of projects from tangible products to intangible services. At the intersection of creativity, technology, and research, he uses design as critical tools for tackling wicked problems, inquiring everyday life, and finding new humane ecologies towards the 22nd century.

He is currently in the MFA Design + Technology program at Parsons School of Design to explore participatory and interdisciplinary problem-solving. Masaki has expertise in finding awesome questions and turning them into valuable functions because he believes we cannot come up with a great solution without a great question.

He is from Tokyo, Japan and majored in Computer Science at the University of Tokyo. Previously he worked at IBM Design for ten years as a UX/UI designer to bridge human and technology. Based on the strong backgrounds in design and engineering, he was recently working as a visiting lecturer at KYOTO Design Lab, Kyoto Institute of Technology to mentor future problem-solvers.

His work has been featured, exhibited, and awarded internationally. Notable features include publications in Engadget, UXPlanet. Exhibitions at the ACM SIGGRAPH, NYC Media Lab. Awarded by Human Interface Society.

Outside of work, He love traveling and shooting pictures. He got some photography awards in Japan and joined a group exhibition in NY.
